Wellness and weight loss have a maximum capacity of 12 people, strength and balance can sometimes have up to 20 people, but this is a class where people follow the instructor. Cancer and Cardiac rehabilitation classes are also limited to 12 people. This ensures that I am able to devote some time to each person and ensure all exercises are done correctly and make any individual adjustments.
In the wellness and weight loss classes we sometimes talk about things we don’t want outsiders to know about. You can guarantee that information will not be shared with anyone else outside the group. I also do not share any information with 3rd parties.
Strength and Balance classes have seated options and standing for those who wish to take it to the next level – there is no pressure and no judgement on your ability and you should be confident that I will support you as needed.
Wellness and weight loss classes all have different levels for each exercise and I will always be on hand to help you find your way. Your exercise, your way!
I strive to make everyone feel welcome in all of my sessions. I understand how it feels to be unfit and very overweight and will always ensure I don’t use derogatory language and always treat people in a fair and just manner. All my session have an element of fun and joining in and you need to be aware that you will need to interact with myself and maybe with other members of the group, but I will try to ensure that this is done in a sympathetic manner. For those who come from GP referral, I have to send information on your weight to the wellness team as this is part of the funding process.
The name really shows what this is about – finding wellness as well as finding your happy weight (not BMI but a weight you can manage to maintain). These are on an 8-week rolling programme following a booklet that Helen has created (this can be downloaded with membership).
There is a weigh-in, about 45 minutes of exercise and a little chat around nutrition and using the booklet. There are exercises to do at home in between sessions. The booklet covers such areas as finding out what makes you tick, why you should exercise even when you can be bothered and that demon, Emotional Eating. Emotional Eating is such a big area that there will be on-line workshops covering this in more detail.
The exercise sessions are based around mixed conditioning, using HIIT training, small weights and are mostly done in a circuit, but sometimes I like to mix it up as we know that doing the same thing all of the time gives you the same results!
Wednesday evening and Thursday morning are slightly more advanced and are suitable for those who have exercised recently (in the last 2 years) and want to get their fitness back or improve their fitness. Strength & Conditioning for women forms the basis of these classes, but you don’t have to be a woman to enjoy them!

These classes are designed for the older adult, or for those new to exercise. There are some seated bits and some standing bits, but there is no pressure on anyone to remain standing for the entire class – its working at your own level and at your own pace and as always, we have a bit of a giggle. These classes are suitable for anyone who worries a little bit about falling or tripping or think their balance might be affecting everyday activities. I use great music to keep you motivated and find a rhythm – it doesn’t matter if you have two left feet – I have a little catchphrase that no one uses “it doesn’t matter what you’re doing, so long as you’re moving” (and of course you’re not going to hurt yourself!

I am currently working with a charity called Heart to Heart who provide rehab exercises for those following a cardiac event. Many people will come to classes from Phase 3 at the hospital or through their GP, but I believe they can self-refer too. Contact me to find out more and book.

I can do this at your home or in my small garden studio. Ideal for those not ready for a class or don’t want to go to gym. These sessions are designed around you and we also follow the life caching booklet if you like, along with the nutritional guidance of the 8-week programme. We look at your goals and decide which exercise routines will suit these – I do an optional weigh-in for these sessions (they’re not just about your weight). Contact me to find out more and book.
